Finances

The last 10 years haven't been easy for communities everywhere and that very much includes Lino Lakes.  The evaluations of our homes here in Lino Lakes dropped nearly 25% and in some areas even more.  That does affect things for the County, the School District, and the City.  For each of them still has to continue to provide services to the community.

During this time I was on the council to work on the budgets that effectively cut over $500,000 with no major loss of services during the years 2011-2015.  As the downturn ended and the upswing started Lino Lakes was recognized for its conservative approach to dealing with business and financial matters.  The Credit Rating was upgraded to AA+.  Which are a reflection of dedicated staff and the Council in getting it right during these tough times for all.

This is determined by rating agencies that take into account all of the economic characteristics of the issuer and the bond.  They evaluate the economic well being of the area in determining the creditworthiness of that rating.  The last time the cities credit rating change was 2010.

This is similar to our own personal type of credit rating.

  • 600-699 fair

  • 700-799 very good

  • 800-850 excellent

All determine the interest rate by our creditworthiness.

We are a single notch from the highest rating of AAA that can be received.  We achieved this working for you with "OUR" tax dollars.
