Parks and Trails
As the economic recovery continues - I believe strongly its time to continue our work on giving back the intangibles to the community, which is the re-investment of dollars into the parks and trails systems. For these are the things during the economic downturn we did not re-invest to control our cost with respect to the taxes.
Our recent commitments in these areas include:
-
NorthPointe Park with park dedication fees - $425,000 (2017)
-
Birch Park Playground identifying ADA standards - $75,000 (2018)
-
Century Farms North Trail - $70,000
-
Sunrise Park Playground identifying ADA standards - $95,000 (2019)
-
Eastside Lake Drive Trail - $38,000 2019)
-
Arena Acres Park, Tennis Court, and Trail - $85,000 (2019)
-
Woods Edge Park with Park dedication fees - $285,000 (2019)
Anticipated Future Projects:
-
12th Avenue Trail
-
Apollo Drive Trail
-
Woods of Baldwin Lakes Park
We have 19 Parks to use and roughly 31 miles of trails in the city. When counting the Regional Park and the School District trails, the community has over over 45 miles of trails to enjoy.
