Road - Maintenance
We have nearly 100 miles of roads in Lino Lakes and we budget for them annually. In recent years we implemented a more aggressive approach to the issue with a Pavement Management Program for roadway maintenance and reconstruction. The Pavement Management Program includes inspecting and rating pavement conditions, analyzing various maintenance and rehabilitation strategies, budgeting and constructing the necessary projects. The City’s Pavement Management evaluation includes rating 25% of the City’s millage annually. This information is used to update a database and create a 5 year Capital Improvement Plan.
Since 2005 we have addressed:
-
over 62 miles for Chip Seal/Crack Fill
-
5 miles of Reconstruction (drainage improvements)
-
14 miles Full Depth Reclamation (recycle in place, full pavement replacement)
-
11 miles Mill and Overlay
Currently, the city is budgeting about $675,000 for what is forecasted to be an annual increase of 5%. We also have an annual debt service of $800,000 for completed reconstruction projects. More recent examples of these reconstruction projects would be Shenandoah neighborhood, the Lamotte and West Shadow Lake neighborhood. And there is annually budgeting of approximately $750,000 used for Municipal State Aid projects like Main Street and Birch Street project. The cost associated with the infrastructure on these roads will be always ongoing. The cities efforts will continue with upcoming projects on Cedar St and Elmquist on the Eastside and 4th ave on the north side of the City.
